Yearly Theme

This year we have an overall theme in our room of "Traveling the United States"

Each week we learn about a different state (or two) and look at the location of the state, capital, state bird, flower, quarter, etc. On Fridays we have special travel day where we take a "field trip" to a famous location in the state we are studying about.

So far this year we have traveled to Mt. Washington and West Quoddy Head on the east coast.

Rotating Themes

There is not enough time in the day to do Science and Social Studies every day, so we rotate subjects and themes every 4-6 weeks. Here are some examples of themes will do this year:

Science
  • Plants
  • Health awareness/Diseases
  • Chemistry
  • Dinosaurs/Environment
Social Studies
  • Reconstruction
  • Industrial Revolution
  • World War 1 and 2
  • Current events
